В Санкт-Петербурге отметили День эрмитажного кота.
6 апреля 2013 года по традиции состоялся "День эрмитажного кота" – специальный проект, разработанный в Государственном Эрмитаже и посвященный кошкам, живущим в музее.
Наши коты ведут свою историю с начала ХVIII века, когда Петр I поселил в Зимнем дворце привезенного из Голландии кота. Позднее императрица Елизавета издала "Указ о высылке ко двору котов", в котором приказала "сыскать в Казани самых лучших и больших котов, удобных к ловле мышей... И ежели кто имеет у себя таковых кладеных котов, оных объявить для скорейшего отправления в губернскую канцелярию". Екатерина Великая – основательница Эрмитажа – придала кошкам статус охранников картинных галерей.
Ежегодно весной в Эрмитаже проходит "День эрмитажного кота" – праздник, ставший в музее в последние годы прекрасной и доброй традицией.
6 апреля в Большом дворе Зимнего дворца состоялось подведение итогов и награждение победителей школьного конкурса "Мой день эрмитажного кота". Там же любой желающий мог создать свой красочный образ музейного зверя в открытом конкурсе "Мой эрмитажный кот". В этот день в фойе Эрмитажного театра были представлены две афиши известного французского художника Теофиля Александра Стейнлена (1859-1923 гг.) – рекламный плакат "Чистое стерилизованное молоко с берегов Венжанны" и афиша его выставки 1894 – на которых художник запечатлел своих котов. В залах музея посетители приняли участие в игре "Ловись, рыбка, большая и маленькая, или Путешествие с эрмитажным котом": попробуют отыскать рыбок в произведениях искусства из коллекции Эрмитажа. Спустившись в подвал Зимнего дворца дети и родители увидели жизнь эрмитажных зверей, занесённых в "Книгу учёта дворцовых котов", и узнали о том, как ухаживать за домашним питомцем из специального мастер-класса.
7 апреля в Эрмитажном театре состоялась российская премьера детского музыкального спектакля "Кошки Эрмитажа" (в оригинале – "Hermitage Cats Save the Day") на музыку Криса Брубека, известного автора джазовых и классических сочинений. Сценарий к спектаклю был создан Мэри Энн Аллин как продолжение книги "Анна и Кошки, или Приключение в Эрмитаже", написанной в соавторстве с Марией Халтунен в 2007 году. По словам Мэри Энн Аллин эта история – аллегория человеческих отношений, и мораль ее ясна – когда мы работаем вместе, мы можем решать многие вопросы и проблемы. Крис Брубек, номинант Премии Грэмми, многосторонне одаренный музыкант, сочинил музыку к спектаклю, которая "больше, чем джаз": "Камерный ансамбль дает такие интересные возможности, решения, которые разрушают стену между джазовой и классической музыкой. Более всего, сочиняя музыку, мне хотелось показать внутреннее спокойствие и внешнюю независимость кошек". Режиссер-постановщик российской премьеры спектакля – Яна Тумина, дирижер – Владислав Лаврик, видео-художник – Александра Комарова. В спектакле приняли участие музыканты Диана Шульц и Дан Сандел (США); солисты Российского национального оркестра – Владислав Лаврик и Максим Рубцов (Москва); петербургские музыканты и актеры Большого театра кукол. Постановка спектакля осуществлена при участии Фонда культурных программ СВАШ и стала возможной благодаря финансовой поддержке "Нестле Пурина ПетКер" – подразделения "Нестле Россия" по производству кормов для домашних животных.
Сумма добровольных пожертвований, собранных в пользу котов в День эрмитажного кота, составила 27 124 рубля. Средства пойдут на оплату медицинского обслуживания и покупку корма.
